Bluebell Wood - Road to HELL...

Re: Land East of Hermitage Lane & Bluebell Woods

Dear Resident

As you no doubt are aware the Government inspector delivered a devastating blow to Allington residents in October 2015 by permitting a total of 500 new homes to be built on our last piece of cherished land in West Kent.   Just recently, Phase 1 of 186 dwellings has now proceeded to the outline planning approval stage and all residents may have received a letter from MBC through your door last week reference planning application 16/503641.
(link to letter - or copy and paste this link: http://www.naag.kry4help.co.uk/16-503641.html)

Please ensure you submit your response to this application by the closing date of the 9 June 2016

It is understood from the outcome of the appeal that the inspector made recommendation for access options 1-6 to be explored and considered in order to minimize the impact on fragmenting the ancient woodland.   Option 6 suggests an alternative route which could save our beautiful woods from being cut in half and destroyed by having access via Maidstone hospital - IE no link road is required!!!

In order to be more receptive of Croudace's future plans we as local residents feel strongly that the six options are seriously explored and particularly "option 6" is worthy of serious consideration to further examine the potential to avoid disturbing the ancient woodland.  One last hope is that the Maidstone Hospital Trust are keen to talk to the developer to negotiate access or an initiative to abolish the need for a link road through the ancient woodland.

The need for a link road through the ancient woodland is totally unnecessary and can be avoided altogether if access via the hospital gets the green light.

MP Helen Grant, Maidstone Borough Council and NAAGs PREFER option 6

Distressing instances such as the recent destruction of a pregnant female snake that was sadly slaughtered by the actions of landowners clearing the undergrowth will hopefully not continue with the correct land management obligations.

Local dog walkers and residents of Allington are now keeping an even closer eye on ANY activity and should report any findings (preferably with photographic evidence) to NAAGs via Facebook or email:- (alert@naags.kry4help.co.uk)

There are mutual benefits for protecting our Bluebell Woods.  This extends to all parties involved including Local Residents, Croudace Homes, the NHS trust and most importantly the ancient woodland itself and the creatures that call it their home.
In order to minimise the impact to the woodland WE NEED YOU TO DELIVER A MESSAGE to the developer by the 9th June 2016.

Please send a version of our pre-formed letter to Mr Carey, Croudace's Managing Director and Mr Russell Denness the Croudace Groups' CEO, which is aimed to make them aware how strongly we feel about saving our Ancient Bluebell Woods.
